Nice photo of this old bridge that crosses the Carlow to Athy Railway line and connects the old head office of Irish Sugar at Strawhall Avenue to the old Erin Food Plant on the Cannery road.
The Cannery road was so named after the Erin Foods Factory was built in early 1960′s by General Costello. He built a small cannery in the Sugar factory yard on the Athy Road for a trial run and then decided just before Christmas to open up a bigger cannery. By July the food factory, Erin Foods, was in full operation.
